  Embracing Asperger’s Syndrome

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Every cloud has silver lining.” It’s especially true when you’re talking about Asperger’s Syndrome. The very qualities that may  label someone with Asperger’s as the geek, the loner or the person who is just a little odd, also make them an out-of-the-box, independent thinker.  I’m Dr. Billi, owner of AttentionB, a therapeutic practice. I have  been an Educator, Expressive Arts Psychotherapist and Health Coach for more than 30 years. I will show you the true value in Asperger’s traits, while helping you or your child become more at ease with social and interpersonal skills.

What makes a person with Asperger’s special? Let’s begin with their ability to:
Devote their full concentration to a topic
Be detail-oriented without getting overwrought or bored
    Stick to an opinion
    Envision the bigger picture
Bring unusual connections and insights to a situation
Consider options that others won’t, opening doors to new ways of approaching a problem
    Speak the authentic truth.

These traits should be embraced. They are what makes someone with Asperger’s creative, intelligent, honest, and hardworking—all admirable qualities. I work with children, teenagers and adults to help them create a balance between these commendable characteristics and those that prevent healthy relationships. This is accomplished with a multitude of educational disciplines, e.g.:
    Non-verbal communication and body language
AttenGo™ —Neuro Cognitive software enhances skills and Beta brainwaves
    Innovative behavioral methods
Expressive and Creative Arts therapies and coaching

  • Psychodrama
  • Movement therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Play therapy.

Using these and other proven methods and systems, I will guide you or your child through the challenges of Asperger’s. I assist with socialization, goal setting, focusing, organizational skills, and learning for all ages.

To keep your level of stress to a minimum, I can do the coaching sessions at your home or office or at my location. I bring the computer and all the other equipment with me. First, I familiarize myself with the way you or your child perceives things and the way you think. I learn how the symptoms of your child’s Asperger’s Syndrome plays out in your day-to-day life and then I provide encouragement, recommendations, feedback, and practical techniques.

Take the first step towards solutions that work for you.

I work in person or on the telephone, or internet, depending on an individual’s preference and needs.
Contact me—Dr. Billi at AttentionB—today and find out how to embrace these positive traits and let go of the negative ones.

Parents: You need support too. I will help you learn to better cope with and manage your child’s behavior.
